Autism

Hidden Struggles

After months of trying to "figure out" our oldest son's unique personality I realized something was not right. One day I was watching his overly expressive response to something and my heart sank. It was more than just a difficult personality - he was not choosing to be the way he was and he was struggling himself with what was happening to him.

After multiple exams, screenings, and months of prayer - and nearly a year and a half long process he received the diagnosis of Autism in September 2012 at 4 1/2 years old. It is a world we never understood before MJ was brought into our lives - and a world that is still very foreign and often frustrating to us - and to him.

Even through all the struggles, confusion, and frustrations there is one thing our family knows. God put this in our life for a purpose. Whether we like it or not - and even if we are not ready to celebrate it - it is our job to do everything we can to allow His light to shine through and allow our journey to be used for something bigger than ourselves.

Won't you join us through the journey? We would love for you to tag along.
